Match Report: Elsecar Main JFC Under 11s 2-1 Langold JFC Under 11s

After what’s become our usual customary slow start we found ourselves a goal behind against a much bigger and stronger looking Langold Under 11s team.

However we stuck to our task well and started to probe the visitors defence and had a few chances of our own before we eventually equalised. Alfie Holmes broke away down the left and despite the ball having gone out for a throw-in, Alfie seized the chance to send Jack Lumb clean through and, with the defence caught napping with a quickly taken throw-in, Jack made no mistake with his one on one with the keeper.

After this the boys visibly grew in confidence and ended the half on top and full of spirit.

A quick half time chat saw the forwards urged to stay as high as they could and press their bigger opposition whenever they got the chance and we knew our speed would get us chances.

Sure enough they did and five minutes into the second half and Jack Lumb burst down the right wing and cut the ball back to Lewis Peachey who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner. 2-1 to the Main.

We still had twenty minutes to play and here's where the boys never say die attitude kicked in with a terrific team performance from all areas of the pitch. George and Alfie were solid at the back and with Brandon and little George & Theo being so solid in the middle it was difficult for the opposition to get many chances.

But we knew that chances would come and some dogged defending, great calmness by keeper Charlie towards the end saw us over the winning line. There was one glaring chance right at the end when the opposition's forward shot over the bar from five yards out when he looked sure to score.

Oliver, Tommy, Sid and Noah all played their part in a great game with some timely tackles, passes and a great overall work ethic.

2-1 to the Main then and we've now played 6, won 3 and lost 3 and it's now two wins on the bounce. It's Wath Stars away next week and the boys can't wait for it. Come on fellas let's keep our little run going.

Man of the Match was Lewis Peachey

Look out for our next U11's match report coming soon.
